No matter how you look at it, Carl Craig, is the most important and well-known representative of Detroit techno’s second wave. The list of highlights is long—from his sampling and reframing of Manuel Göttsching’s E2 – E4 on Remake, his stack of magnificent and groundbreaking remixes (e.g., of Maurizio’s Domina), to his work with the Planet E label and projects under various aliases (such as Paperclip People)—so take your pick. But one thing is certain: no one has perfected the fusion of Belleville Three, synthwave, funk, jazz, and deep techno-house quite like Carl Craig. His DJ skills are beyond dispute and it’s a special honour to have him play at Week-End Fest 2025.
