Two seminal figures in British music history united on one stage: trip-hop heavyweight Daddy G and Don Letts, musician, filmmaker, DJ and journalist. Whilst his father was already running a sound system and getting British-Caribbean workers down to the dance floor, Letts first befriended the likes of Bob Marley and Debbie Harry, before teaching the London punks The Clash what it means to groove off-beat. A few years later, four young men from Bristol discovered a fascination for graffiti and dub: Massive Attack was born—and right at the heart of it all was Grant ‘Daddy G’ Marshall. The revolutionary, sublime sound that left a lasting mark on bass music began to rock the world in the early 90s and is still creating shock waves to this day.
