First released in Jamaica in late 1972, Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle – produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry and mixed by King Tubby – is widely regarded as one of the first full-length dub albums and a true landmark in reggae history. It established dub as a genre defined by creative studio intervention. Now, 54 years later, Cologne-based label Week-End Records is excited to re-release this monumental album in its original version featuring all 14 tracks.

The album’s newly restored master will be presented in its entirety during an album listening session on the club’s Freifeld floor. David Katz, Lee “Scratch” Perry’s biographer and author of Dub Revolution, will give an introduction, followed by a Q&A.

U14DBBJ, a band of musicians led by composer and arranger Jorik Bergman, will perform selected tracks from this iconic album live, mixed by Helmut Philipps (author of the book Dub Konferenz. 50 Years of Dub from Jamaica). DJs Olaf Karnik and Danniella Dee will round off the afternoon/evening with a DJ set.

Jorik Bergman – flute
Tino Ribeiro – bass
Hendrik Eichler – percussion
Sikia Chi Masters Heien – guitar
Luzie Micha – trumpet
