Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead once went by the name Raime on the Blackest Ever Black label, getting clubs from LA via Manchester to Berlin moving to industrial techno music with dubstep DNA. As Moin, they released a few singles in parallel, then disappeared, only to resurface years later as a trio with Valentina Magaletti. Magaletti proves once again—as she does in her project with upsammy—that there is simply no other drummer as inventive as her at the moment. Together with her bandmates, she creates a sound that can only be described as ‘post-everything’: post-industrial, post-dub, post-dance, post-grunge, post-hardcore. At times it’s fierce, bass heavy and deep in the best sense of the word; at others, it’s unexpectedly inviting and even danceable. Moin is quite simply the band of the moment.
