The electronic music of Dutch artist Thessa Torsing, aka upsammy, often treads the line between natural references and synthetic soundscapes; fluid and mercurial, in a good way neither dancy nor ambient. She takes this approach into a new realm for her collaboration with the prominent Italian drummer Valentina Magaletti. On Seismo, the duo explore the architecture of a museum and transform it into an exceedingly complex—at times dense, at other times airy and spacious—web of bleeps, pads, field recordings and Magaletti’s particularly innovative drumming. Something new emerges in every second of their collaboration; it is sophisticated music with no concrete predecessors, never standing still.
